Sidney Gavignet and the 50% Omani crew of Musandam-Oman Sail, crossed the finish line of the 2014 Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race off the Royal Yacht Squadron, Cowes, at 12.42.36 BST on Thursday 14th August 2014. This is an elapsed time of 3 days, 3 hours, 32 minutes, 36 seconds and, subject to ratification by the World Speed Sailing Record Council, a new Outright World Record for the Round Britain and Ireland course and a new race record for the Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race.

This breaks the previous World Record for a multihull held by Banque Populaire 5 in 2011, by 16 minutes, 38 seconds and is subject to ratification by the World Speed Sailing Record Council....Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing's Volvo Ocean 65, Azzam, has extended their lead overnight and are now over 60 miles ahead of Team Campos, skippered by Iker Martinez."

Chicago Match Race Center will host the first of four events on the US Grade 2 Grand Slam Series, with racing on August 15-17. This series attracts some of the best international talent to compete for valuable points in the Grand Slam Series and invitations to two stops on the Alpari World Match Racing Tour (AWMRT) – Chicago Match Cup in 2015 and Bermuda Gold Cup in 2014 – in addition to the very prestigious Grade 1 Congressional Cup in 2015. The Chicago Grand Slam format this weekend will feature a Round Robin on Friday, followed by Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and Finals. All races will be held in Lake Michigan north of the entrance of Chicago’s Belmont Harbor....
