Newport, Rhode Island has been hosting the America’s Cup for many years. It departed in 1983 after a famous Australian victory, but left a legacy that makes Newport one of America’s most famous sailing towns. Rhode Island is the smallest state in the Union but bursting with mile after mile of magnificent coastline, harbors, and beaches. With an active international sailing community, the city even hosted the Volvo Ocean Race in 2015. In 2016, Newport welcomes the new format of the World Match Racing Tour racing the M32 high-performance catamarans.
